Profile
I am a pharmacist and health systems researcher working at the intersection of medicines, healthcare delivery, and global health. My experience spans clinical pharmacy, medicines safety and supply, clinical research, international health, and professional health communication.
Professional Background
My professional foundation comes from more than a decade of hospital pharmacy practice in the Republic of Korea. Working across inpatient and outpatient pharmacy, medicines supply, medication safety, multidisciplinary care, and research gave me a practical understanding of how medicines move through health systems—from availability and operational management to prescribing, use, monitoring, and patient care.
Alongside clinical practice, I developed research experience in medication safety and medicines-use behaviour. My work has included quantitative and qualitative research on medication sharing and epidemiological research on health outcomes in veterans, as well as investigator-led hospital research projects.
My international experience has gradually expanded this perspective beyond individual institutions. At UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, I worked within an intergovernmental policy environment supporting the International Convention against Doping in Sport. More recently, I have contributed to medicines-management capacity building in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and undertaken visiting research at the University of Nottingham on environmentally sustainable medicines.
Current Focus
My current interests centre on how medicines can be used more safely, appropriately, and sustainably within health systems. I am particularly interested in medicines governance, evidence-informed decision-making, sustainable healthcare, and the translation of research and technical knowledge into policy and practice.
I also write about pharmacy and health systems for professional audiences, drawing on field visits and interviews with healthcare professionals and organisations across different countries. This work reflects a broader interest in cross-country learning and in making complex health-system issues accessible beyond academic settings.
I am particularly interested in international and multidisciplinary work that connects medicines, health systems, and public health.
